This is a painting depicting Mary Fielding Smith paying her tithing with the best potatoes from her crop. She came to west showing great faith as the widow of Hyrum Smith. The story is told by Joseph Fielding Smith who observed his mother’s faith. The full account can be read here.
The three times in a girl’s life where she wears white are when she receives name and blessing as an infant, when she is baptized, and when she is a bride. This painting shows all these three moments together with a temple in the background.
